Background

Kennett was engaged for a Design a Construct contract to manage the building project from concept drawings through to practical completion.

Project Detail/s

Kennett developed the design from concept to final for construction documentation and managed council approvals and certification along with the build itself. This project was an extension to the previously built showroom including demolition of an existing sawtooth warehouse and construction of the new extension.

Construction Detail/s

Demolition of the existing sawtooth asbestos clad warehouse / showroom and construction of showroom extension consisting of precast walls on the boundary and metal pan roof.

Challenges

The construction access was extremely tight with only one access point to site through the rear of the building. Furthermore, the building was set right on the site boundary and liaising with adjoining residential properties added some complexities. Adding to this, the existing recently constructed showroom was required to be operational for the duration of the build.

Outcomes

The project was delivered on budget and one week ahead of the contractual timeframes.
