John Kennett – Group Chair

John was sole owner and Managing Director of Kennett Builders from 1992 to 2018, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Charlie in previous years. Prior to this, he spent 20+ years in numerous roles within the business, starting out as a subcontracted carpenter. John ran the South East branch from 1977 – 1981, which kicked off a long-standing relationship with Mt Gambier that continues today. John is a past President of the Master Builders Association of SA and is now Group Chair for the Kennett Group.

James Kennett – Executive Director, Corporate & Strategy

James Kennett was appointed Executive Director, Corporate & Strategy in 2018 and is responsible for all business development, new business, marketing, registrations of interest, strategic planning and IT & communications. After 13 years working in retail and banking, James returned to Kennett in 2001 and spent 2 years as Project Manager before becoming Senior Estimator. Since then James has built strong relationships with many clients and consultants, sharing his time between estimating and the organic growth of the business. James has a passion for architecturally significant buildings and previously sat on the State Government’s BIM working committee and currently sits on the Master Builders Association of SA Executive Committee. James studied Construction Technology and Design.

Scott Kennett – Managing Director

Scott Kennett was appointed Managing Director of Kennett Pty Ltd in 2018 and oversees the construction side of the business. After working in both Melbourne and London with category one builders, Scott returned to Kennett in 2007 as Senior Project Manager. In 2010, Scott progressed to Construction Manager and has since steadily grown the construction team. Working with all staff, Scott has built a culture where our teams develop great relationships and working partnerships with all our clients to achieve outstanding results regarding time, quality and cost. Scott understands that the technical and complex nature of the industry requires efficient and effective communication to ensure all project goals and targets are achieved.

Phil Hole – Chief Operating Officer

Phil joined Kennett in January 2011, after moving out from England with his family. Beginning as Contract Manager, Phil’s broad skill base was quickly recognised, and in 2013 he accepted the role of Estimating & Commercial Manager, shortly after also becoming part of the Executive Team. Now in the role of COO and the General Manager of Victoria, Phil’s hands-on approach and vast experience sees him managing the project and estimating teams, providing alternative construction methods, and key input on time and fiscal management. Phil will often challenge the project and subcontract teams from a client perspective – a trait that drives excellence and quality.

Tim Lang – Chief Financial Officer

After many years as a consultant at Kennett, Tim has taken on the Chief Financial Officer role. Tim’s background in quantity surveying and accounting makes him a strong leader of the financial department. Along with the Chief Operating Officer, Tim has refined our Construction and Fiscal procedures to benefit our staff and clients.

Paul Jennings – Construction Manager

As Construction Manager, Paul supervises the project teams throughout pre-construction and construction phases of half our current projects. He ensures all projects are delivered within budget, meeting Kennett business objectives and reviews schedules, methodologies and HSEQ procedures. His experience is in various sectors including education, leisure aged care and more. Some of Paul’s high profile projects have been the Centre Court Development at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre, Payinthi Council/Library/Community Centre at Prospect, The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre, Wesley House Aged Care, Resthaven Port Elliot and various education work at Walford School, Seymour College, Nazareth Catholic College and more. Paul has been with Kennett since 2004. When he’s not renovating at home, he enjoys time with his family.

Gavin Fillmore – Construction Manager

As Construction Manager, Gavin supervises the project teams throughout pre-construction and construction phases of half our current projects. He ensures all projects are delivered within budget, meeting Kennett business objectives and reviews schedules, methodologies and HSEQ procedures. After embarking on a career in the construction industry in 1996, Gavin has gained vast experience across many sectors including aged care, education, leisure and more. Since joining Kennett in 2015, some of Gavin’s high profile projects include Uniting SA’s new 5 storey development at West Lakes, the Animal Welfare League Redevelopment, Helping Hand’s new Golden Grove facility, SACA’s Karen Rolton Oval Redevelopment and the Playford Tennis Centre. Out of hours Gavin lives in the Adelaide hills and enjoys keeping active with his family.

Justin Davis-Bishop – Design Manager

Justin manages the design process using commercial, contractual, programme and technical expertise. He encourages and inspires design consultants to produce their best work in a cost-effective way, recognising current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate. His BIM/3D Model analysis and clash detection experience is highly regarded and he has a creative and concerted approach which encourages an effective collaborative spirit amongst all consultants. He has been instrumental in the successful delivery of many high quality and high profile projects across Adelaide. Out of hours Justin enjoys surfing and lives by the beach.
