Health & Safety Management System

In providing a safe working environment for our employees and contractors, we have developed our own WHS Safety Management System. It’s held in all site offices/worksites of each Site Manager and is available to employees and any trade personnel working for us.

All our projects are internally audited by our Manager of Quality and WHS, and are audited bi-annually by our external ISO 9001 accredited auditor, resulting in a safer workplace with a steady reduction in injuries and lost work time.

Our WHS and injury management practices include:

  • Commitment
  • Systems review and improvements
  • Accountability measures
  • WHS / injury management information
  • WHS training
  • Client site meetings

Every member of a project team has a set of safety obligations to meet. We ensure our teams have a strong safety focus, are accountable and are structured and resourced to ensure rigorous safety monitoring and leadership.

With all projects, we use the following tools:

  • HSE Risk Register
  • Safety talks and toolbox sessions
  • Safe Work Instructions
  • JSEAs and SWMSs
  • Site inductions

Our WHS Safety Management System is award-winning:

  • 2014, Building Excellence Awards (Master Builders Association of SA): Uniting Care Wesley Semaphore, Excellence in Work Health & Safety
  • 2012, Building Excellence Awards (Master Builders Association of SA): Helping Hand Northgate, Excellence in Work Health & Safety
  • 2006, Employer of the Year – Medium Business (SafeWorkSA): University of Adelaide, Royal Australian Institute of Architects (SA) Urban Design Merit Award

“The quality of Kennett Builder’s work has been excellent, but more importantly has been the way in which they have liaised with staff, and the way in which they have been respectful and considerate of the residents and their needs.”
