Mount Gambier Library

Background

The Mount Gambier Library overlooks the historical Cove Gardens and its completion was the final stage in an upgrade to the town centre. The new library was a milestone for the community.

Challenges

  • Media and community interest placed the project and our work under constant scrutiny
  • Part of the fit out needed to be themed for children
  • Some structures were curved
  • Performance spaces needed to be acoustically engineered
  • The Council found artefacts while working on a new car park which required historical assessment

Outcomes

  • We delivered a highly professional service under the scrutiny of media and the community
  • The precinct features a cave themed children’s area
  • Our construction included curved steel and Alucobond signage screen
  • We acoustically engineered performance and practice spaces
  • We ensured close consultation with the council while they constructed a new car park and preserved artefacts found onsite
