Helping Hand, Northgate

Background

Not for profit aged care provider Helping Hand needed its aged care facility to be built in Northgate on 11,000sqm of previously undeveloped land. They required a two-storey, 110 bed facility, with commercial kitchen, dementia wing, high care and low care units, serviced by two central lifts in the core of the building.

Challenges

  • The build had to fulfill a number of key design targets to maximise the site
  • The building needed to reflect the character of the surrounding neighbourhood
  • A final design was only settled one week before the start of construction
  • A start of the art commercial kitchen needed to be installed

Outcomes

  • The building was completed weeks ahead of schedule and budgets maintained
  • All issues were addressed to ensure no tradesmen were on site for major work while residents were moving in
  • The building fits in with its surrounding thanks to our quality installation of textural materials and selection of a soft, natural colour palette
  • Our previous experience in construction of high volume kitchen facilities resulted in a superior commercial kitchen
