Global Pumps

Background

Global Pumps, founded in 1977, is a key supplier to the mining, chemical processing, industrial and food processing sectors, offering pumping equipment to clients across Australia. It needed a modern warehouse, a fully equipped service and fabrication workshop and office space for approximately 30 staff including kitchens, boardroom, meeting rooms, security and data rooms, café area and reception.

Challenges

  • Within two weeks of breaking ground on site, contaminated soil was discovered requiring a re-design
  • A tight timeline was challenged by weather delays and soil contamination
  • The service and fabrication workshop needed to handle complete turn-key projects
  • Complete boundary fencing was required, including integration with the security system

Outcomes

  • After discovering contamination, our innovative approach of redesigning and lifting the building, with close client and Council engagement, prevented project delays and reduced the initial estimated remediation cost from $250,000 to $88,000
  • We incorporated a “just in time” delivery process for materials to deal with the time delays caused by weather and soil contamination
  • We delivered a 2,000m2 fully equipped service and fabrication workshop, with gantry crane and dedicated pump test bay to handle mechanical and electrical installations, total refurbishments, site repairs and maintenance programs
  • Conduits were installed in the warehouse and workshop to future-proof the spaces
  • Our build included an 800m2 two-storey office and 8,000m2 car park
  • We constructed boundary fencing consisting of tubular and chain wire fencing with an integrated auto gate to the security system
