Construction Detail

– Structural steel framing

– Extensive glazed viewing areas

– Perforated facades

– Reclaimed flooring

– Block work and off-form concrete walling

Challenges

Velodrome design unable to be achieved due to bitumen plant restrictions,
so alternative concrete design was undertaken.

Ground water during piling caused significant delays to the programme, but we were able to mitigate the delays by resequencing and altering the project staging.

Structural steel design was incomplete, causing a lenghthy shop drawing process to address design shortfalls.

Maintained public and club access to velodrome and carparks during construction.

Client design phase value management process left significant holes in the scope and detailing on the project.

Maintained and protected the adjacent bowls greens during construction.

Outcome

Successful delivery of a high-quality build within budget.

Good relationship with client and stakeholders.
