Cabra Dominican College has contracted Kennett Pty Ltd to complete the music suite project, after the successful delivery of another Kennett project for Cabra the previous year. This $1.9m music suite project involves some early contractor involvement with the larger project team Russell & Yelland, Combe Pearson Reynolds and Lucid Consulting. The project details for the construction of a 2-storey music hall to hold lessons and performances for Cabra’s instrumental and vocal music programme, as well as a linkway bridge to connect three separate buildings.

Construction Detail

– Demolition of an existing toilet and locker masonry structure

– 2-storey music hall constructed from structural steel, precast concrete, in-situ concrete and metal wall and roof cladding

– Construction of a linkway bridge spanning 30m and linking three separate buildings, including one which is heritage-listed


– A high standard of finish and architectural detail were achieved

– Working within an operating school creates challenges to minimise disruption to staff, students and parents

– Discovery of contaminated spoil beneath the demolished buildings footprint


– A high quality build and happy client was achieved

– A good relationship with the client and project team has been established

– Kennett Pty Ltd has been awarded another new project within the school, based on the success of this music suite project
