The Guide Dogs’ SA/NT-owned facility was built as an investment for the future of the organistaion. Beau’s Pet Hotel will drive revenue back into Guide Dogs SA/NT and ensure its financial sustainability to fund core services for people living with disability. As the first of its kind pet boarding facility in the Adelaide metropolitan area, Beau’s Pet Hotel offers state-of-the-art accommodation for dogs and cats, doggy daycare, grooming and training with access to on-call veterinary services.

Construction Detail

  • Substructure consists of integral strip footing and slab on-ground
  • Structural steel framed structure precast, insulated Askin panels and finesse wall cladding
  • External aluminium angular fins encapsulating the building envelope
  • Building compromises of 4 main areas, general kennels, luxury kennels, cattery and office / admin areas


  • The building was situated within the confines of the Adelaide Airport grounds where numerous safety protocols had to be complied with during the construction period.
  • Constant communication / liaison with the adjacent neighbouring bureau of meteorology, Australian federal police and the airport operation services was required to achieve an non-disruptive operation.
  • Presence of ground water, needed amendments to the civil design in order to mitigate potential time loss associated with the latent condition.
  • Access restrictions associated with the location of site and ongoing road upgrades conducted by the AAL needed ongoing co-ordination.
  • Co-ordination and installation of client supplied kennels and kennel equipment from the USA and UK.


  • The delivery of a bespoke, state-of-the-art dog and cat boarding facility in the western suburbs of SA.
